A Valentines heart-shaped cake, covered with royal icing piped red flowers and a light dusting of icing sugar
Valentines Day has been and gone for another year but for all those lucky ladies (and men) out there who received a proposal the excitement, expectation and anticipation is only just beginning.
You’ve got the engagement ring, you may even have picked a wedding date but where do you go from there?
Well the next obvious choice is the venue. There are some truly beautiful locations around Sussex depending on what type of wedding you are after. Wiston House near Steyning is a superb country house set against the backdrop of the rolling South Downs whilst Buxted Park to the east is an incredible beautiful hotel.
In Brighton itself there is The Grand Hotel, resplendent on the Seafront as well as the lovely Hotel du Vin just off it. If you are looking for something a little fun, try the Terraces Bar and Grill or even the fabulous Brighton Pier.
Once you have got the venue sorted the rest follows on – dress, rings, suits flowers and cake of course.
We recommend you book at least six months in advance for your wedding cake because during the summer dates get booked up really fast.
Heart-shaped cookies, perfect for wedding favours
We always offer our couples a free no obligation, one hour cake consultation – any self-respecting bespoke wedding cake designer would quite honestly!
We appreciate buying a wedding cake is a big thing, that you want it to reflect your theme, style, personality and tastes, which is why we like to put our money where our mouths are so to speak and let you try our cakes. It also gives you a chance to get to know us and make sure you are happy with what we will be designing for you as well as the service you receive.
So far this year we are finding the bigger tiered cakes are proving really popular. People are looking to make a statement with their wedding cake and requesting designs that really pop, not just a standard three tier round cake.
We are introducing cakes with different shaped and sized tiers, different colours and ever bigger and bolder designs. Ruffles are proving particular popular this year and we have several cakes coming up featuring them and we will also be showcasing some of our own ruffle designs shortly.
Ombre, or shaded cakes where there is a distinct colour change throughout the tiers are also proving extremely popular this year and we are looking forward to creating many designs based on this look.
So why not email us and fix your date for a free consultation soon. In the meantime, get flicking through those magazines, collecting ideas, picking out colours, fabrics, lace, beads, broaches, anything you like. It can all form part of the overall design
