I had been planning on making Buckingham Palace out of gingerbread for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations but sadly time and life got away from me and while it is in progress it’s not quite ready yet! It will be soon though I promise. In the meantime, I thought it would be fun to round up the top three Jubilee gingerbread images for inspiration if you’re looking for something creative to do over the Jubilee weekend.
Buckingham Palace
I must admit I am a huge fan of the Queen and all she stands for and the Jubilee is an event that we will not see again in our lifetimes and may never happen again. Whether you love or loathe the royal family, the Queen has been the steafast head of state for 70 years which is a huge achievement, representing a lifetime of dedication and service to her country. While most people would’ve retired years ago she just keeps on going. A Jubilee gingerbread Buckingham Palace is surely a very fitting way of congratulating her on such a long reign. This gingerbread rendition of Buckingham Palace is quite frankly regal beyond belief
Jubilee Gingerbread Crowns
I do have a loose plan to build one of these in the next week although making curved gingerbread is a task in itself so it could end up a total disaster!!! In the meantime, here are a few from the best on the web. These Jubilee Crowns from the The Gingerbread House mummy blog are a great way to entertain excitable kids over the Jubilee weekend and also a tasty treat at your Jubilee street party.
Then there’s this awesome video of how to make a gingerbread crown too which is well worth a go if you have a bit more time on your hands.
Jubilee Gingerbread Men
I think decorating gingerbread men and women as the Queen, the royal guards or revellers would be rather fun. I actually couldn’t find many images online but I did find these rather lovely Jubilee biscuits instead.
Whatever you do this Jubilee weekend I hope you have a good one. It’s not like we’ll have another weekend to celebrate like this, and for such a momentous occasion, in our lifetimes!! And watch out for my belated Jubilee gingerbread soon.
